2025 Band Bios

Kaidy Norstog - Buffalo, WY

Cruisin’ - Sheridan, WY

Cruisin’ is a long-standing Wyoming rock & roll band rooted in Sheridan’s live-music scene. They’ve played locally for decades, bringing classic rock, danceable covers, and good-time energy to outdoor concerts, club shows, and community events around Sheridan and the Bighorn Basin region; the group has been active for over 30+ years, making them one of the area’s enduring party-style bands. Performances often include rock standards that get crowds moving, and they are a familiar act at Concerts in the Park and regional celebrations.

Aaron Davis and the Mystery Machine - Jackson, WY

“An essential force in the Americana roots music scene in Wyoming” (KHOL 89.1FM), Kentucky native Aaron Davis stages his songs with poetic amplitude, soulful groove, and a deep well of old-time and modern sonic textures—voice, electric & resonator guitars, lap steel, open-back banjo, and harmonica.

The fervent eclecticism and dynamic chemistry of Aaron Davis & The Mystery Machine allow the quintet to embark on musical journeys from highly orchestrated arrangements to off-the-cuff improvisations and feel-good grooves. Likened to heroes by Wyoming Public Radio as “the vibe of The Band going throughout,” the crafty textures and rich harmony are courtesy of David Bundy (bass, fretless bass, harmony voice), Jason Baggett (drums, percussion), and Greg Creamer (guitar, harmony voice).

The Machine concocts a downhome fusion of Southern-fed Wyo-Americana, ‘70s groove rock, alt-country-grass, pensive indie-folk, and gritty slide blues.

Davis is chiefly known as co-founder of national touring act Screen Door Porch and owner-engineer/session player at Three Hearted Recording Studio in Hoback, Wyoming. The “truly phenomenal songwriter” (Americana UK) works the lesser-worn corners of the American musical fabric through an unconventional lens.

Through a dozen releases of original music, the press has described Aaron’s output as “a combination that goes down like top-shelf bourbon” (Austin Chronicle) with “a searing slide guitar” (Country Weekly), and “a particularly standout approach that mixes poetry, groove and roughness” (Lonestar Time).

Aaron has been fortunate to share bills with many of his heroes including Wilco, Willie Nelson, Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, Buddy Guy, Sam Bush, Brian Wilson, Steve Earle, Grace Potter, Sarah Jarosz, Justin Townes Earle, Sierra Hull, and James McMurtry.

A once-in-a-lifetime recording endeavor—The WyoFolk Project—saw Davis produce, record, and mix a compilation album featuring fourteen of Wyoming’s celebrated songwriters performing new works at his studio. He continues to carve out a humble existence as a dynamic artist through vast collaboration and perpetual creation.

You’re invited into The Machine, where everything is possible and nothing is certain.

Winston Creek - Laramie, WY

Including Buffalo’s own Ben Camino, Winston Creek is an emerging rock/roots band based in Laramie, Wyoming, known for energetic live performances and strong ties to the statewide music scene. The group formed while its members were students at the University of Wyoming, coming together in spring 2024 to blend their diverse musical influences into a cohesive, original sound rooted in contemporary rock, Americana, and festival-ready anthems.

Jackson Holte - Pinedale, WY

Lobban Street Music coordinated with the Wyoming Singer Songwriter organization to ensure a spot for the winner at Saturdays in the Square! Jackson Holte was the 2025 contest winner.

Jackson Holte is a musician, writer, and mule packer. His first solo record, Sky Blues, was released on October 17th. In addition to winning  the Wyoming Singer-Songwriter Competition in 2025, he won the Montana Quarterly’s Big Snowy Prize for creative non-fiction.

Sky Blues is cinematic folk music, a loosely autobiographical concept album about  what Marilynne Robinson called "the attentive quiet at the center of Western life" and Tom Edwards called "the hush of the land." The twelve collected songs are alluring, unadorned, patient, spacious, rarely sympathetic, devotional.

Kaspen Haley and the Boxelder Stomp - Casper, WY

Kaspen Haley & Boxelder Stomp is a Wyoming-based band delivering a high-energy blend of rowdy Americana, red dirt grit, and blues-driven country. Fronted by Casper native Kaspen Haley, the band brings a sound rooted in the High Plains—equal parts storytelling and stomp, built for live crowds that want to move.

Backed by a seasoned group of musicians, Boxelder Stomp has shared the stage with artists like Dwight Yoakam, Jordan Davis, Uncle Kracker, and Charley Crockett, bringing a polished but raw live show that connects just as well in outdoor summer settings as it does in packed bars.

Their music leans into themes of hard miles, real life, and small-town edges, with a delivery that’s authentic, unpolished in the right ways, and built to pull a crowd in from the first song to the last encore.

Lena Marie Schiffer + Ani Casabonne - Livingston, MT

Lena Marie Schiffer is a folk singer-songwriter from Livingston, Montana, known for her deeply personal lyrics and powerful storytelling. After a decade of touring nationally with her former band, Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs, she embarked on a solo career, developing a sound that blends folk, indie, and Americana influences.

In 2024, Lena teamed up with classically trained violinist, Ani Casabonne. Originally from Frisco, Colorado, Ani discovered her love for folk and bluegrass at a young age and quickly became a staple in the Montana music scene. Together, their undeniable chemistry captivates audiences, whether in intimate venues or on festival stages.

Lena's debut solo album, House of Sky, was released on February 6th, 2026. Produced by Courtney Hartman, the album is a powerful and intimate exploration of the peaks and valleys of life. Through her deeply personal lyrics, Schiffer gracefully explores themes of love and connection, while also confronting the raw pain of grief and the uncertainty of life's challenges. Schiffer's grounded voice and honest storytelling guide listeners on a journey of self-discovery and ultimate self-forgiveness, making House of Sky not just a debut, but a testament to the quiet strength found in moving forward.

Rakish - Boston, MA

Rooted in tradition with an ear toward the future, contemporary folk duo Rakish embodies earnest musical exploration and demonstrates an infectious playfulness on stage. In their sound together, it is evident the two friends share an unbridled love for the traditional sounds of Celtic and American music, and the tight ensemble of a group with years of collaboration under their belt. Strings Magazine says: “Explorative and versatile, the duo draws evident inspiration from not just the deep and wide history of Scottish and Irish Celtic composition, but also the precision-focused structures of classical chamber music and a whole array of improvisational styles.”

Known for her toneful and award-winning fiddle playing in the Celtic music world, Maura Shawn Scanlin grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Maura is a 2-time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion and a winner of the Glenfiddich Fiddle Competition in Scotland. Her clawhammer banjo playing and songwriting, also featured in the duo, hold the regional music of her homeland close. Maura finds her niche combining influences from a widespread musical journey with the sounds she grew up around.

Steeped in the Irish music communities of Washington D.C. and Baltimore, MD where he was raised, acclaimed guitarist Conor Hearn developed a keen interest in literary theory and poetry, a unique well of material from which he draws unending musical inspiration. His settings of modernist poems, like James Joyce’s Chamber Music, epitomize the duo’s approach: the dexterous alchemy of the old and the new into something wholly Rakish. A keenly sought-after collaborative guitarist, Conor performs with many of the most renowned names in Celtic music today. His guitar style combines bass and rhythm for a uniquely powerful and precise sound.

Rakish, embracing the unconventional connotation of their namesake, create and perform music with verve. Recent highlights of their travels include performances at the Library of Congress, Celtic Colours International Music Festival, Prince Edward Island’s Festival of Small Halls, the Corvallis Celtic Festival, and Official Showcases at Folk Alliance International. They have taught at esteemed fiddle camps across the country including Alasdair Fraser’s Sierra Fiddle Camp, Folk College, Katie McNally’s Boston States Fiddle Camp, and Hanneke Cassel’s Pure Dead Brilliant Fiddle Weekend.

On Now, O Now, the duo’s sophomore release (out October 11, 2024) it is clear Rakish cannot be pigeonholed into one genre and is most comfortable occupying the in-between. Together they journey through Celtic and Americana styles, deftly showcasing how to bring forth something new from the deep well of tradition. They are touring their new album across the country throughout the fall of 2024 and into 2025.
